Color of the Year 2018

Ultraviolet has been elected Color of the Year 2018 by Pantone “which is the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems.”

“Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute declares a particular color “Color of the Year”. Twice a year the company hosts, in a European capital, a secret meeting of representatives from various nations’ color standards groups. After two days of presentations and debate, they choose a color for the following year.” Wikipedia

“The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today.” – Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.

I think it is a great and beautiful idea. I see every day while I draw, how color reflects our inner emotions and how unconsciously we choose colors depending on our inner state or what we want to achieve. I only learned about this practice this year and funny enough I fell in love with the colors of a flower I had taken a picture of earlier and decided that my next design would include Purple and Violet, realizing also that almost none of my designs have this color. The Magic of Intuition when we are silent enough to listen and have trust to follow the advice.

Purple Violet

I started this new Mandala just before New Year, I wanted to re-focus my mind after idle days and enter the New Year with a fresh perspective. A new unknown journey that only now is starting to reveal itself, as information come to me and make me become aware of the significance of the drawing.

This color has many deep and profound meanings. Mostly they are related to the connection to our Spirituality, and Awareness of our inner self in Unity with all that is. Surrounding ourselves with this color can help with our inspiration and enhance our creativity.

It is also the representative color of the Crown Chakra, which if you do not know is a system that recognizes the different energy centers situated along our spine, connecting our subtle bodies, emotional, mental and spiritual. Through meditation, by focusing on each of the points we are able to release tension and negativity. Many also use Mandalas for this purpose. You can learn more here www.chakra-anatomy.com

I also realized that this Message resonates so much with the reasons behind why this color was chosen as so well explained by Pantone. You can read more at this link: www.pantone.com
